Editor

Oddly perhaps, I do a lot of editing. Others work at writing, but I'm just quite good at proof reading and editing by the looks of things. I mainly do this for creative writing for my other half at http://thousandmonkeys.wordpress.com who has short stories published on websites and in print and just needs to tidy up what she calls her serial novel (very much a fan of Trollope), which she finished recently. Deciding what to do with that is the next task.

I also edit art in a way, an excellent artist friend of mine, pexton.daportfolio.com and superego-necropolis.deviantart.com
commenting on composition, proportion and whatever the nagging thing that's a bit off is. Maybe a should be his agent too: he has a book cover, regularly appears in Interzone magazine (he's been in every issue for over a year I think) and other national and international publications. You wouldn't know it though - he's just not very good at promoting himself.

Reviews & Creative Writing & Art

Well, I don't really keep up with this, and what's the reason to anyway?

You may well note that my poi (points or places of interest) links to ThousandMonkeys but I have not as yet mentioned the fabulous book reviews that she does for SFReader.com. I also feel that I've missed a bit out here that I should have expanded upon; you can read a short story from ThousandMonkeys here: Windows to the Soul. If you keep up to date with said blog you can keep up to date with "The uninspiring life and ponderous thoughts of an undiscovered author".

Another Friend of mine, David (who doesn't have a web presence and therefore no link), is having a short story of his entitled The Oasis published in the magazine Morpheus Tales. Well done him. By a bizarre demonstration of small world networks, Le Mat has been asked to illustrate the story, one illustration can be seen here: Oasis of Despair. I must say that is captures the air of the character from The Oasis.

Well, not much else to say, except that the title for this post is awful...

I occasionally go to a scfi-fi and fantasy film night. Last Friday I went along and the films on offer were Indian Jones and the Kingdon of the Crystal Skull and Total Recall.

I left and went home.

Russell T Davies and the death of Doctor Who.

Russell T Davies. Creator of Doctor Who (I'm being facetious). Killer of a program that was already dead? I think so.

I had great hope and excitement when Doctor Who got revived. I wasn't sure about Christopher Eccleston - about if he looked right for the part. He seemed fine in the few episodes I've seen though. David Tennant had a good look going on, but his thing for saying things very fast and running around wears out a bit in the end. Anyway, it's not about the actors - it's about the writing. The aforementioned Mr Davies seems to have missed the point somewhere along the way. Gone are stories which have cliffhangers and last for several episodes. Here are the all wrapped up in 45 minute versions. Ho humm. (I think some of the writing style is commented upon here http://thousandmonkeys.wordpress.com/)

Now, one of my favourite (top of the list I think) Doctors is Paul McGann - the audio adventures are fantastic and he plays the Doctor so well. The Doctor Who stories are so very much alive in the audio adventures, and I also think Mr McGann should have some more television series put his way - out of Russell control of course. I think it'll never happen. Prequels are popular at the moment though.

Now what should happen when we move onto the 11th Doctor? Well there are lots of musings about this, but I think a very suitable candidate has put herself forward. She'd be perfect in her delivery her performance and eccentricity.

AdSense and Sensibility

Seeing that this is probably, if not statistically, me rambling on to myself, no one will have noticed that I don't (now this is odd - actually having an italic button and having written emphasis that way rather than my _usual_ method) have any adverts on this page. The idea is reasonable I suppose, readers come in and click on the adverts and you may or may not get some cash out of it in the end. It is a _moral_ (see what I did there?) decision, and I have decided against it.

I suppose adsense ads are at least not too obtrusive, but is the interweb a place for non stop advertising for products and services? It certainly wasn't created that way, but let's not forget that a creation can evolve.

So, my position at the moment? No ads. Might that change in the future? Possibly.
